  • 1SOULAR Digital Interview

    Name 1SOULAR

What is your profession? Independent Songwriter, Rapper, Producer, DJ and Sound Engineer.

How did you get into the field that you are in today? The need for recording my own music and still having a respectable sound. As much as I love writing new music, I have half the fun in crafting the sound during the production/engineering process.

What do you love most about your profession? I love writing/expression of words. I love writing down or saying a word and it leading to another one which unlocks this thought pattern that was already there and needed to be expressed.

Tell us more about what you do? I am a sample based producer. However, during the last 5 years I took it upon myself to discover the live instrumental world (electronic drums, bass guitar, and piano) as well as learn a few things about singing which have not only been inspiring but have allowed me to express what I feel is important to be expressed in a specific way. It gave me more control of what I needed to be expressed while at the same time keeping that creative touch I feel is important to the music.

When did you discover that you had a passion for this field? I’ve been passionate about music ever since I can remember, so the passion has always kinda been hand in hand with the creativity. I got into my first studio at about 19years old so I knew right then and there.

Who in your field do you look up... I grew up admiring and looking up to many regional artists like Mac Dre and Del The Funkee Homosapien out of the Bay Area. As well as those close to me like my cousin Angel, who would simply rap share his raps, other artists who then inspired me in my taste for music and from a very early age and simply did it for the love of it.
