    Ms. Boss Digital Interview

Name -My name is Ms. Boss and I am from North Tulsa, Oklahoma, better known as “The Nitty.”

What is your profession? - I am a songwriter, poetry writer, rapper, singer, sound engineer, producer, and photographer. I am also in healthcare and headed towards that big white coat.

How did you get into the field that you are in today? - I have been writing poetry, singing, and performing my whole life but it wasn’t until I was 16 that I started in the hip-hop game. At the age of 16 I became a hype girl for a female rapper named Lega-c and quickly became immersed into that life. With my background in music and poetry and now a hype girl in hip hop it all made sense and all the ingredients came together that created Ms. Boss. Over time I began to figure out how things worked in the studio. I quickly took to the sound engineer life and opened up a studio and production company at the age of 21 called “Lyons Empire Productions (LEP), where I recorded artists and managed them.

What do you love most about your profession? - What I love most about music is that my pain and my story can be told and by me telling my story others can relate to it and it can help them as much as it helps me. I love creating something from nothing and stamping that moment in time forever.

Tell us more about what you do? - I have been on tour across the country a few times opening up for artists like Tech N9ne, MGK, Jelly Roll, Krizz Kaliko, Dizzy Wright etc. I have made fans in so many states that are like family to me. I lived in the Bay Area at a point in my life and became a big part of the scene down there. Music has always been my passion and if it wasn’t for my music career I wouldn’t even be alive today. I’ve been doing music since I could remember, and I’ve been deep in the hip-hop scene in multiple states for the last 15 years.

When did you discover that you had a passion for this field? - I don’t remember a time in my life without music being apart of it. I was born for it.

Who in your field do you look up... - I am an old soul, my favorite musician is Anthony Hamilton. Just a few of my other faves are biggie smalls, TLC, Aaliyah, Tupac, OutKast, Erykah Badu, J Cole, Mo3, Mac Miller, and Russ.
